Waste Education in Action

Compost Bin

The Recycling Consortium’s dedicated waste education projects have been running since 1998, with the aim of promoting the 3Rs message: to reduce, re-use and recycle waste at home and at school.

We offer curriculum-linked assemblies and workshops, professional teachers’ resources, assistance in setting up recycling and composting schemes and in-service training.

This part of the site includes details of our projects, resources, case studies, contact details of artists who can make marvellous things from recycled rubbish and simple, factual information for pupils and teachers about waste issues.

Composting in School

Composting is a fantasitc way of recycling kitchen and garden waste, and is becoming increasingly popular in schools. A healthy compost bin is a great resource for KS1 and KS2 teachers to use in a wide range of science topics.
