About half of what people put in their bins at home and school should not be thrown away at all, because it is not rubbish. Materials like waste paper, empty tins and cans, glass bottles and jars are useful resources which can be used to make into new things. If they are thrown away, they will get buried in the ground in a landfill site and new raw materials have to be found to make new things. What a waste!
Recycling waste at school
Free
recycling collections can be arranged for all schools in Bath and North East
Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
Everyone needs to remember to reduce and
re-use waste as much as they can,
before they recycle it.
See how little you can throw away in any bin, even your recycling one!
Recycling waste at home
It
is very easy to recycle waste at home. More and more people are putting materials
out for their kerbside collection. It soon becomes a habit, just like putting
the rubbish bin out.
