Consultancy
Reduce - Reuse - Recycle your waste

The Recycling Consortium Ltd (TRC) has merged with Network Recycling Ltd and SWAP to create Resource Futures Ltd, thus achieving common ownership and direction for three of the UK’s leading sustainable waste management businesses.
The three organisations have 50 years of experience between them and they have been working closely together over the last three years for clients such as WRAP and DEFRA.
Our particular strengths include:

- communications and awareness raising
- monitoring and evaluation
- public and community engagement
- education in schools
- waste minimisation
- community waste sector development e.g. networks, partnerships and capacity building
- bespoke consultancy
We have worked for a range of clients including local authorities, community waste organisations and private waste management companies, both as short term consultants and long term service delivery partners.
Communications and Awareness Raising

TRC can deliver complete communications and behavioural change campaigns including:
- Strategy review and development
- Surveys, focus groups and message development
- Promotional and PR services
- Leaflet design and production
- Canvassing and door knocking campaigns
- Participation monitoring
Monitoring and Evaluation
TRC can monitor and evaluate the success of either your communications activity or recycling scheme, to WRAP standards or otherwise, and provide recommendations for taking the findings forward. Methods include:
- Participation and set out rates in urban, suburban and rural settings
- Telephone, on-street and doorstep surveys
- Focus Groups
- We can also advise on further appropriate methods to be conducted inhouse e.g. calls to helpline, advertising value equivalent…
Public and Community Engagement

Working with local volunteers as Recycling Champions, or with local community groups undertaking practical waste projects, can be a powerful tool to encourage behavioural change and raise levels of participation. However it has it’s own specialist skills and issues.
TRC offers training and advice to local authorities on setting up local waste action groups and working with volunteers to tackle waste issues and raise awareness at a local level. We also offer the Community Waste Action Toolkit, a comprehensive guide to setting up and running a range of practical community based activities.
In addition to training TRC can provide a full service of working with you to encourage and support the development of local waste action groups. This approach has proved highly successful in Oxfordshire where we have worked jointly the County Council to support more than a dozen such groups.
We also have practical experience of working with ‘hard to reach’ communities such as inner city neighbourhoods and multi occupancy buildings RIFE.
Education in Schools

With many years experience of developing and delivering curriculum based waste education in schools and developing imaginative resources for use by educators, TRC can offer a range of services including:
- Training waste educators
- Developing new resource materials
- Sale or loan of existing resources
- Developing and delivering curriculum based workshops
- Setting up and advising on schools recycling schemes
Waste Minimisation

Always at the top of the waste hierarchy and moving up the political agenda, waste minimisation has always been a priority for TRC. We have particular expertise in:
- Setting up Re-usable Nappy promotional programmes
- Compost Counsellors and Community Composting
- Promoting reusable bags
Community Waste Sector Development

TRC is a not for profit company and is committed to the development of the community sector to deliver high quality recycling, re-use and waste minimisation services. We specialise in the development of local networks and service delivery partnerships. Our services include:
- Undertaking scoping studies to identify existing and potential community sector activity in an area
- Working with local community sector groups to identify the potential to improve or expand their activities
- Sourcing and preparing local groups to give and receive specialist consultancy
- ‘Brokering’ the development of local service delivery partnerships e.g. working with a local authority and a local furniture project to develop a new bulky waste re-use service
- Development of local community waste sector networks to promote knowledge sharing and joint working.
