The Recycling Consortium (TRC) are partners in the Community Waste Action Group (CAG) project with Oxfordshire County Council (OCC), which was set up in 2000. There are currently fourteen CAGs in Oxfordshire who are supported by a dedicated CAG Development Officer and a part time assistant. TRC provide management and expertise in Community waste related activities and OCC provide funding and support for the Officers in Oxfordshire.

CAGs are run by volunteers who organise local events to promote waste awareness and help increase local understanding of the need to reduce, reuse and recycle.

Types of events organised by CAGs:

  • Street shredding events- woody green waste is turned into usable chippings for local gardens
  • Give and takes - useful items are 'swapped' for FREE within communities
  • Collections of blankets, tools, and other useful items for local charities
  • Producing local 'bags for life' to encourage people NOT to use plastic bags
  • Art workshops - turning 'junk' into priceless pieces of art

To find out more about the events and initiatives the CAGs and how the CAG network is growing in Oxfordshire please visit the CAG website or contact Moira Dorey, Development Officer.
